The government regulator Ofgem have just announced that they are going to raise the price cap currently in place for standard variable tariffs. The price cap was introduced in January to ‘help’ the estimated 60-70% of consumers who have never switched and are on standard variable tariffs. It meant that there was a maximum price for both gas and electricity that their supplier could charge them.
However, these maximum rates are going to increase in April, meaning that the average domestic user will pay around £117 more per year. So, if you don’t like the sound of that, click on the link below and you will find a much better option!
